Privacy Policy: LidarLab

Effective date: 7 October 2026

LidarLab ("the app") is developed by Jordan Bee ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles. The short version: your scans never leave your device, and nothing you scan can reach us unless you choose to attach a screenshot of it to feedback. The app sends us something only when you choose to send feedback, described below. Apart from that, it goes online only through Apple's App Store, to check, buy or restore a subscription.

What we collect

Only the feedback you choose to send. The app has no accounts and no sign-up. It has no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Subscription checks and purchases go through Apple's StoreKit and send us nothing.

Your scans stay on your device. Every scan you record, along with the depth data, camera positions, measurements, reports and exports generated from it, is stored in the app's own folder on your device. It never leaves your device, and we cannot see it. Exporting or sharing a scan is a local action you take, through the standard iOS share sheet, to a destination you choose. We do not receive a copy.

The camera and LiDAR scanner. Recording a scan uses the camera and the LiDAR scanner, which is why iOS asks your permission the first time. The depth frames and images captured are written only to your device's local storage. They are never sent anywhere.

Subscriptions

LidarLab offers optional Pro and Business subscriptions, monthly or yearly. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your Apple ID, or your name. The app stores a record on your device, in the iOS Keychain, that a valid subscription was verified, so that your Pro features keep working when you have no internet connection. That record contains a subscription identifier issued by Apple and the times it was verified. It stays on your device, is cleared when a check shows your subscription has ended, and contains nothing that identifies you. iOS may keep Keychain records after an app is deleted; this one holds only that subscription identifier and those times.

There is no free trial and no introductory offer.

Feedback you choose to send

How feedback works depends on your version of the app. You can always email us directly at jordan.bee2012@gmail.com instead. The app shows that address next to its feedback options. Jordan, who makes the app, reads every message, and replies to every one that comes with an email address.

Version 1.2 and later. After you use a feature, the app may ask whether that feature is working well, with the buttons Yes, Something's wrong and Add a comment. It asks at most once a day. Tapping Yes or Something's wrong sends that answer straight away. Add a comment opens a short form where you can write a message, and, only if you choose, attach a screenshot of the screen you were on and give an email address for a reply. Nothing in the form is filled in for you. The same form is available in Settings. The app may also ask you once whether you would like a possible future feature, such as photoreal 3D renders of your renovated room; tapping an answer sends just that answer, in the same way. Each item you send contains:

It never includes your scans, plans or measurements, your photos or location, or any device or advertising identifier, apart from whatever is visible in a screenshot you choose to attach. It is sent over an encrypted connection to a small feedback server we run ourselves (at jordanbee.cloud, on a server rented from Hostinger), which stores it and delivers it to our own Gmail inbox so we can read it and reply. A comment or a Something's wrong answer arrives as its own email; Yes and No answers arrive only as counts in one daily summary email. The feedback server is in the United States. Gmail is a Google service, so Google also stores those emails, and it may keep them outside the UK, including in the United States. The server does not store your IP address: it is held briefly in memory to stop abuse and is not written to any log.

Legal basis. Under UK and EU data protection law we handle feedback because we have a legitimate interest in answering you and in fixing and improving the app. The comment, screenshot and email address are optional: you add them only if you want to, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Version 1.1 and earlier. The Send feedback option never sends anything itself: it opens an email in your own Mail app (or the share sheet if Mail is not set up), addressed to us, which you can read, edit or cancel before sending. If you send it, we receive your message, the app version, the iOS version and your iPhone model, and, only if you leave them attached, a screenshot of the screen you were on and up to 3 photos you picked. Photos are re-encoded before attaching, which removes their location data. The email never includes your scans, plans or measurements.

How we use it. We use feedback only to reply to you and to fix and improve the app. It is never used for advertising or to track you, and we never sell it or share it with anyone else, apart from the server and email services named above, which only store and deliver it.

What we do not do

Data retention and your rights

Everything the app stores is on your device and under your control. Deleting a scan in the app removes it. Deleting the app removes your scans, plans and reports. We hold no copy of your scans, plans or reports, so there is nothing of that kind for us to return, correct or erase on your behalf.

Feedback sent from the app in version 1.2 and later is kept for up to 24 months from when we receive it, then deleted from our feedback server and from our email inbox. Feedback you sent us by email, and any email conversation that follows when we reply to you, is kept in our inbox until you ask us to delete it. To see, correct or delete any feedback sooner, email jordan.bee2012@gmail.com and we will do it. A Yes or Something's wrong answer, or a comment sent without an email address, holds nothing that tells us it came from you, so we cannot pick out a one-tap answer to delete it early; it is deleted at the end of the 24 months like everything else. For a comment, tell us roughly when you sent it and what it said, and we will find it and delete it. If you have a privacy question, contact us and we will respond promptly. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will change with it.
